Understanding the DASH Portal

What is the DASH Portal?

The Dash Portal isn’t your regular internet website, It’s a sophisticated database software that resides on the server within your school that has been tailored for Kativik Ilisarniliriniq’s need. This means it’s securely hosted and accessed within the confines of the school’s network. Dash Portal is your go-to spot for school-related tasks at Kativik Ilisarniliriniq such as:

  • Manage Attendance: Quickly fill in attendance for your classes.
  • Check Your Class Lists: View and print lists of students in your classes.
  • IEP Management: While creating, updating, or managing an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in DASH is typically the responsibility of the special education teacher, a member of the administration, or another designated individual, as a teacher, you play a role in this. You’ll be brought into this process at specific times during the year. On a daily basis, however, teachers can consult the IEP to implement the recommended strategies and tools.
  • Enter Grades: Quickly update students’ grades and track their academic progress.

How to access DASH?

Access within KI NETWORK

You can use the DASH Portal only within the KI network for security reasons.

Teachers will now access the site using their domain password (like for email) – KI credentials.

Encountering Issues?

If you run into any problems with the DASH Portal, don’t hesitate to get help. Create an IT ticket directly in Iniga or shoot an email to helpdesk@kativik.qc.ca.

How Can Teachers Use It?

Upon logging into DASH, it will automatically direct you to the attendance page.

From here, you can adjust the interface language, choosing from English, French, or Inuktitut (either the Ungava or Hudson dialect).

DASH Report Cards Simplified

In DASH, teachers have the flexibility to either update student evaluations progressively as they’re completed or directly input grades during report card season. If you need further guidance, a detailed guide is readily available within DASH. And don’t forget: for comments, either add a personalized note or pick from a coded comment bank. Once finished with the report card, ensure you hit ‘submit’ to notify the administration.

Attendance Recording

One of your core daily tasks is attendance recording. When marking a student absent, ensure you select the appropriate code that reflects the reason for their absence.

  • Primary Teachers: Enter attendance twice a day (AM and PM).
  • Secondary Teachers: Attendance must be recorded for every period you teach during the day.
