When an additive noun beginning with a consonant plus a vowel is added to a base or a postbase ending with two vowels plus a consonant, the latter consonant is often deleted.
- qallunaaq +ni → qallunaa-ni (not
qallunaar-ni) - qallunaaq +titut → qallunaa-titut (not
qallunaar-titut) - nutaaq +mik → nutaa-mik (not
nutaar-mik) - sallu-miuq +nut → sallu-miu-nut (not
sallu-miur-nut) - inu-limaaq +nik → inu-limaa-nik (not
inu-limaar-nik) - ukiuq +mi → ukiu-mi (not
ukiur-mi) - ukiaq +mi → ukia-mi (not
ukiar-mi) - … but umiaq +mi → umiar-mi or umia-mi
