In this third lesson of the Zones of Regulation program, children understand that it is normal to experience each zone. All of the zone colors are okay, but there are times when you should be in different zones. This activity is to reflect on times when it is expected to be in each zone.
* It is important to note that everyone experiences all of the zones – the Red and Yellow Zones are not the “bad” or “naughty” zones. All of the zones are expected at one time or another. The Zones of Regulation is intended to be neutral and not communicate judgement.
Times when it’s expected to be in each zone
To help children think about different situations and in which zone they are expected to be, you can do this activity as an association game using this document.
Watch a short video on each zone. Bob videos are developed for Kativik Ilisarniliriniq Compassionate Schools by the students of Alexander Foreman with support from Christopher MacPherson at Ulluriaq School, Kangiqsuallujjuaq.
