2022 Orientation Week

This page provides information to all staff required to attend Kativik Ilisarniliriniq’s 2022 in-person orientation week. You should also have been invited to join a three days online pre-orientation. For more information on this topic, please send a message to nunavik@kativik.qc.ca.

🗓 Dates

The in-person new teachers’ orientation takes place from Monday, August 8th to Friday, August 12th.

📑 Documents

Prior to orientation, make sure you have completed the onboarding documents that were sent to you.

📍Location

The event will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott Montréal Airport, located in Montréal (Saint-Laurent)

A hotel room will be reserved for you and your family from Sunday August 7th until your departure flight to Nunavik, August 13th or 14th.

To take the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, head to Door 8 at the departure level (one floor up) with your luggage. You will there be able to call the Marriott shuttle or Radisson shuttle.

For the Crown, please take a taxi and include the receipt in your travel claim.

💲Compensation

The orientation week will be paid as it is essential for your integration and onboarding at Kativik Ilisarniliriniq.

Attendance will be taken every morning and afternoon or at each workshop.

A daily monetary compensation will be paid only with confirmation of attendance of the workshops.

🍽 Meals

During orientation week, light breakfast and snacks during breaks will be provided for attending teachers.  

Lunch and dinner are not provided for attending teachers, aside from Tuesday’s Lunch with your school team. 

However a per diem can be claimed through the KI online travel claim form. Meals for family members can also be claimed through the online travel claim form.

Adults

Breakfast: 15$
Lunch: 21$
Dinner: 34$

Children

Breakfast: 7.50$
Lunch: 10.50$
Dinner: 17$

👧 Daycare

Day care services for children 12 and under is available at the hotel in the HOSPITALITY room.

Children at the daycare might use the indoor pool. Please bring any lifejacket of floatation device used by your children.

Day care services must be booked in advance in the online registration form. Please, notify us promptly. Further information upon arrival can be provided in the HOSPITALITY room.

🐕 Pets

If you are traveling with pets you must inform us in advance through the online registration form. Please notify us promptly. We will reserve a pet-friendly room for you. Please note that you will be held responsible if your pet causes damage to your room. Note, that no pet care services are provided. Also, if you are traveling with pets, don’t forget to call the airlines, as soon as you received your flight information.

🧳 Excess Cargo

Any excess baggage will be picked up at the hotel by KI transportation services on Wednesday August 10th (morning and lunch time) to be shipped to the respective communities.

All baggage must be properly and clearly labelled with the name of the teacher and the community assigned.

No refrigerated or frozen food will be picked up. You will have to bring your refrigerated or frozen items directly to the Air Inuit warehouse in Dorval.

✈️ Travel to Nunavik

Travel to your destination community will be arranged on Saturday, August 13th, or Sunday, Aug 14th.

Be sure to confirm your flight reservations from KI transport department and verify your shuttle departure from the hotel with the KI team during Orientation.

Also, if you are travelling with pet, don’t forget to call the airlines.
