JUMP Math is a philosophy and a set of classroom materials that aim to improve the teaching of mathematics and to help students enjoy and meet their potential in the subject. It’s important to keep in mind that it is not a workbook-based program, and that understanding the approach is key to the success of this program.
The JUMP Math teaching approach uses a model of teach, practice, assess.
In the JUMP Math model of teach, practice, assess there are short teaching explanations followed by student practice and on-going assessment by the classroom teacher during the lesson. Assessment takes place throughout the lesson so that teachers can check for student understanding before moving on to the next step.
